New York, NY, July 24, 2008 -- Goode Partners LLC, the New York-based private equity firm, announced today that it will make a strategic growth investment in Rosa Mexicano Company, operator of the growing group of successful upscale Mexican restaurants and marketer of authentic Mexican food products. The investment will help fund the company’s geographic expansion and accelerate the growth of the popular Rosa Mexicano® brand.
Rosa Mexicano and Goode have been working on the company’s growth plan since late last year. They are currently preparing the company to open new restaurants in Riverside Square, Hackensack, New Jersey and National Harbor, Maryland. These restaurants will open later this summer. Further, they also have plans to open in Los Angeles at LA LIVE in late 2008 and in Chicago at 108 North State Street in late spring of 2009.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Doug Griebel, Dan Hickey and Howard Greenstone, the owners/operators of Rosa Mexicano. They have built a great company founded on serving fine authentic Mexican food, in a contemporary setting, with outstanding customer service,” said Joe Ferreira, one of Goode’s founding partners. “We look forward to working with them and the rest of the Rosa Mexicano team to build Rosa Mexicano into the nation’s leading upscale Mexican brand.”
Doug Griebel, Co-Founder, Owner and Chairman of Rosa Mexicano said, “Goode Partners provides us with both capital and extensive experience in the restaurant industry. This partnership will allow us to bring Rosa Mexicano’s fine food to guests across the country and provide outstanding career opportunities for our current and future associates.”
Headquartered in New York, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican cuisine when it first opened its doors on the Upper East Side of New York in 1984. Playing a leading role in defining what was then a ‘new’ cuisine to American diners, Rosa Mexicano delivers authentic Mexican cooking in an accessible, stylishly festive atmosphere. Today the company operates seven Rosa Mexicano restaurants on the East Coast—three in New York, and one in each of Washington, Atlanta, Miami and Palm Beach, FL—and is preparing to open additional locations in Riverside Square, Hackensack, NJ, National Harbor, MD, Los Angeles and Chicago.
